By combining raw image capture with features such as HD video and GPS tagging, the Canon PowerShot S100 is certainly one of the most highly featured compact cameras we have seen. But the camera isnt all bells and whistles. The new Canon 12.1-million-pixe...
Full manual controls, Lens control ring, Good image quality
So-so battery life, Modest lens reach, GPS function is buried
The Canon PowerShot S100 is a pocket camera that packs an impressively comprehensive array of full manual and auto functionality into its slim 26.7mm depth. And, impressively this doesn’t seem to have adversely affected image quality as the Canon is a

Great build quality, Responsive GPS system, Superb image quality – particularly when shooting raw, Excellent manual control over settings, Very impressive performance at high ISOs,
Launch price is a little steep, Limited control over the builtin flash, Some features aren't as easily accessible as we'd like
Take into account the superb handling, impressive image quality – particularly at high ISOs – slick, detailed Full HD video, plus a responsive, accurate GPS system, and you have the recipe for a pretty remarkable camera that you can take anywhere.
Excellent build, great design and handling, Settings control rings can be customised, Picture quality up to 800 ISO or even 1600 ISO, Manual mode and RAW mode, 1080p HD video with stereo sound and optical zoom
Edges of the frame aren't as sharp at wideangle settings, Heavy distortion in RAW shots at wideangle settings, Aperture soon drops as you zoom (f/2 for wideangle, f/5.9 for telephoto), Limited battery life (200 photos or less with GPS active)
The Canon PowerShot S100 is a camera that's great to use, with plenty of advanced functions and handling that's sometimes worthy of an SLR. What's more, it takes high-quality pictures and videos. It's just a shame that the lens isn't a little more cons...
Great pictures, biggest zoom in category, more control than S95
Poor close-focusing, very expensive, no hotshoe for viewfinder or extra flash, 200 shots per charge
Excellent pictures, small size, great design, GPS technology and 1080p HD movie are all plus points. Occasional close-focusing issues, a high price and no hotshoe are the only criticisms that we do have. Otherwise the S100 makes good on its promise to ...
This is an outstanding compact camera. It fits easily in a pocket, yet feels rugged enough to stand a little careless handling. The control ring around the lens is most useful for instant exposure compensation - every camera should have it. With prices i...

The image quality is outstanding. At ISO400 there is little evidence of noise and no noise reduction effects at all. Resolved detail is impressive, so the boost to 12 megapixels doesn't seem to have consequences for picture quality.
The battery goes flat very quickly if you forget to turn off the GPS function. A warning pops up on the screen to advise that GPS continues to drain the battery even when the camera is off. Take care! The Getting Started manual is absolutely useless

Sammanfattning: Read later Canon has broken with the top-quality compact mob with the S100, increasing the megapixel count to 12 and boosting the zoom range to 5X (24mm-120mm film equivalent). After Panasonic startled the world with the LX3, with its modest zoom an...
