With more sensible pricing, the latest addition to the PEN range is definitely a step in the right direction ...

Like: The image quality from the EP trio is superb. Colours are rich without being oversaturated. Skin tones are smooth yet detailed. Auto focusing and exposure are good with exposure compensation easily to hand. Movie mode is exceptionally fine.
Dislike: The price now seems high, compared with the excellent Samsung NX10
Fun art modes, good focusing, focus tracking, sharp overall image quality, built-in flash
Noticeable noise above ISO 400, mode dial is too stiff, no dedicated controls for changing exposure, no built-in EVF, screen a little dull
The Olympus PEN E-PL1 is a budget interchangeable lens camera, but the problem is that it's just not cheap enough. You don't get an EVF nor any physical exposure controls, and the body is just very plain overall. It doesn't have the appeal of the PEN E-P2...
Pop-up flash. Excellent SLR image quality for the price. Good noise control. HD video recording
Slow autofocus. Small, low-resolution LCD
The E-PL1 isn't fast enough to accurately capture moving subjects, but as a cheap entry into the Micro Four Thirds format it's a pretty good camera indeed....

Sammanfattning: The Olympus Pen E-PL1 is a third-generation model in a series of cameras pioneered by Olympus with the aim of providing small, interchangeable-lens cameras with sensors significantly larger than those in digicams. While offering the same 12.3-megapixel...
Olympus' PEN E-PL1 retails for under R8000, which should put its relatively compact body with regular DSLR sensor size and interchangeable lens system in reach of a wider audience. Although it impresses us with good quality pictures and easy to use 7...
The Olympus E-PL1 sells at a market operating price of Rs. 22,999. While this may be a decent camera in terms of image quality; this is definitely not the newest. Olympus recently launched the E-PL2 which has a larger screen with more controls. On the ...
Good image quality, sturdy build quality, simple interface design, auto modes work well, ability to save in RAW and JPEG simultaneously in all modes, 720p video recording
Boxy design, small display, no built-in optical viewfinder, interface looks a bit dated, slow autofocus, bit expensive
We liked the performance of the Olympus PEN E-PL1. It tries to emulate the features and performance of dSLRs, but at the same time tries to have the user friendliness of point-and-shoots cameras. However, as it stands now neither is the quality levels ...
Solid number of features for pros and novices alike; iAuto mode is brilliant for novice shooters; good picture quality.
Not as nicelooking as the EP2; video quality a mixed bag.
When we first reviewed the E-PL1, we came away impressed with what Olympus added to their budget compact while taking away relatively little compared with the camera's more expensive siblings. In terms of still photos, the E-PL1 is on par with any mir...
